anthrofinn ::: Favorites 2007-12-28 22:50:45 wrong. Black people in the United States couldn't hold the priesthood until 1978. Since the BOM has been revised and altered so many times, maybe the newest revision left that part out or you forgot. I live in Salt Lake City and have for 40 years. I was was around in 1978 when the so-called "revelation" took place. The Africa argument isn't the same thing...nice try though. __________________________________________________
VoodooMagicMan ::: Favorites 2007-12-28 16:14:08 Everyone who is not a Mormon needs to get up to date on why Mormons did what they did and when they did it. You sound like Hypocrites and Fools! I'm not a Mormon, but I have studied all faiths out of curiosity. These are some of the nicest most forgiven people on the planet. They would never judge you. Who made you fools the judge anyway? __________________________________________________
VoodooMagicMan ::: Favorites 2007-12-28 16:08:43 1...Lawrence is your normal Democrat Hypocrite. Harry Reid? Not one word about his faith and the Dem's picked him as their leader. The only reason we have racism, The main reason we have racism are because of one group of people who PIT Black & White, __________________________________________________
VoodooMagicMan ::: Favorites 2007-12-28 16:08:22 2..... Rich, Poor, Man, Woman, Old, Young and the Democrats say it everyday. They want us to hate each other so they have a victim. Anyone who is offended should blame the Dem's first. Listen to this Man talking Like Kramer at the night Club. Same thing just different Rants! You know it's true. __________________________________________________
evan119 ::: Favorites 2007-12-25 05:48:40 to run the church for them, but this was mostly because of the church's young state there and the fact that most native Africans who were members were so new to the church that they did not know how to run it. In 1978, this was changed so that they could run the local chapters of their church themselves. __________________________________________________
evan119 ::: Favorites 2007-12-25 05:48:20 wrong. Black people were allowed in the church since it's beginning. The first black member was admitted to the church and given the priesthood in 1831, less than 6 months after the founding of the church. The confusion with the "1978 argument" is this: Prior to 1978, members BLACK OR WHITE who lived in Africa were not given the priesthood and were not allowed to run the church there themselves. Church Members from the states were sent to Africa __________________________________________________
kstaylor98682 ::: Favorites 2007-12-23 21:31:40 well, he was right about black people not being allowed into the church until 1978. That's correct. I don't know what the motives were, but factually it's accurate. However, that being said I don't know any racist mormons. __________________________________________________
djwright44 ::: Favorites 2007-12-22 23:54:01 I think Larry O'Donnel has his facts wrong. Mormonism has never been pro slavery....ever. __________________________________________________
utjeremy1003 ::: Favorites 2007-12-22 13:59:03 People should really get their facts right before having a debate. Mormon's were prosecuted because they were against slavery and were driven out (big part of the reason) because of it. How you can someone honestly say Mormons are racist? One of my best friends is morman and just got home from serving in Africa. Yes, Africa. 99% blacks and he was helping out by providing shelter, food, warmth, love and so much more than you know. Yet, Mormans are racist. get your facts straight buddy. __________________________________________________
Oxnards ::: Favorites 2007-12-22 13:36:44 Although I do believe in freedom of religion and respect the Mormon's right to worship and hold beliefs different from myself, I personally don't think they are "true" Christians. I think religious beliefs are important to moral character and when trying to choose between Romney and Huckabee this Feb, for me the answer is obvious -- I will vote for the candidate that I know shares my values, and that candidate is Huckabee. __________________________________________________
CheshireShade ::: Favorites 2007-12-21 19:46:52 just watching this . . . oh my sweet holy God, -_- And thus history, like a river is bound to repeat. __________________________________________________
bluespiral58 ::: Favorites 2007-12-21 03:05:11 In the future religious beliefs will be treated as beliefs in astrology, alchemy or witchcraft are today. __________________________________________________
bluespiral58 ::: Favorites 2007-12-21 02:35:29 I'm not saying expressed religious beliefs disqualify anyone, only that they should invite questioning, and even ridicule. Ridicule is protected in the constitution. __________________________________________________
davidmesaaz ::: Favorites 2007-12-20 22:53:35 But what your doing is a religious test. Your saying that if a religion is crazy that disqualifies them. This is strictly forbiden in constitution. The real litmus test is how the candidates religious belief translates to his moral beliefs which has huge policy implications. __________________________________________________
davidmesaaz ::: Favorites 2007-12-20 22:49:30 Well there you have it go to it you need to attack every candidate with any religious beliefs. Have fun.. __________________________________________________ |
