His Music comes from another world to help us understand the greatness of ours. I turn my eyes to the sky, where it comes from, while listening to this part.

Still renders me numb for a few mins afterwards! I sang in the chorus for this some time ago and the sensation of that finale will never leave! The entire auditorium vibrates in harmony - its truely epic!

How can anybody compare Pines of Rome with its single band orchestra to Mahlers 8th which requires TWO Orchestras and TWO choirs! The auditorium required for the 8th has to be enormous hence it is rarely performed. Come on YTers GET REAL. This out does Pines or even wagner anyday! Its mad but it stupendous too!

Totally cosmic! By the way, any Tennstedt enthusiasts reading this who haven't yet heard his 'live' 1993 EMI recording of the Mahler 7 MUST do themselves a favour and hear it; the 1980 studio recording which EMI issued was good, but the live one from 1993 is extraordinary. Anyone who doesn't care much for the 7th Symphony should hear it as that recording will make them change their mind.
