What I find funny is that the reporter admits being BEHIND Romney's motorcade. How can Romney's staff pull over a reporter that's behind them? This seems to support Romney's staff's calim of being lost and pulling over and apparently the reported pulled over as well. Romney's staff didn't pull him over but if Garrity said his plates were ran, he should be fired for being an idiot.

In the original article, the NYT reporter explains that the driver, Garrity (who it's now been discovered was driving illegally at the time, with an expired license) signalled the reporter over to the side of the road and the two vehicles pulled alongside each other, at which point Garrity tried to intimidate him. Garrity has been cited for possession of police equipment without a permit in the past, & is being investigated in 2 states for impersonating police officers in separate incidents.

This is a huge exaggeration; nobody got pulled over or ran off the road. IF he told the reporter that he ran his plates to get him to stop following him-so what. It's a free country, you can say whatever you want. He wasn't posing as a trooper. Would America be happier if the Federal Government was flipping the bill for Romney's security because he could ask for the Secret Service to protect him as I've heard Obama has.

"It's a free country, you can say whatever you want." Uh, it's illegal to impersonate law enforcement for good reason. You are not free to do that.

"Uh, it's illegal to impersonate law enforcement for good reason. You are not free to do that." IF and I say IF because there's no proof whatsoever. IF he said he ran the reporters plates, or IF he said he wrote down his plates or whatever, that's hardly impersonating a law enforcement officer. If some freakazoid was following me and my family, and I felt unsafe, I might say a lot of things to get them to veer off.

You don't seem to know much about the story. If you did, you'd know that the reporter had been covering Romney all day and had even had an interview with him. He's not some random "freakazoid."

This reporter Mark Leibovich loves Pelosi, Gore, and Clinton. Now you tell me that he was following Mitt ALL DAY, he may not be random, but he is a freakazoid.

Reporters do that. It's called doing their job. Sometimes reporters follow candidates for days at a time. If you don't know this, then you don't know much about the way presidential campaign coverage works. He had previously arranged with the campaign to do so. This type of intimidation has happened with other reporters, and it's part of a pattern of this particular staffer breaking the law.

I'm partially just messing with you because you seem so upset before, but did this guy have permission to follow them from site to site or just have permission to cover all the functions.
