Christie actually changed the ending herself when she adapted her book into a play, and the movie uses her play's ending. And by the way, the 1974 movie version is execrable.

I just did this play, I was Rogers the Butler. It is terrible writing in my opinion, incredibly cheesey, but that is mainly because Agatha Christie made this style of writing famous so it comes out like that nowadays.
