In Chicago, there are a lot of Spanish-speaking people willing to teach others for free. I was taught some Spanish. But it's slowly slipping away because I do not exercise it enough. I know a number of people who have learned this language simply by being around it a lot. __________________________________________________

Regarding New York, my sister and a cousin have made it a practice to fly up there just to shop. And when they return, they resale the merchandise. I'm not into fashions, but evidently there must be some bargains in clothing & accessories up there. __________________________________________________

You have a unique accent and outlook on the language situation, especially regarding opportunities for non-native speakers of both Spanish and English (or any other foreign language) to facilitate two-way communication.
